Setting a Default Domain - ClickSpot

Setting a Default Domain

Configure a default domain for your workspace so every new short link automatically uses your preferred custom domain instead of the shared ClickSpot domain.

Why Set a Default Domain?

Setting a default domain saves time and ensures consistency:

  • Team consistency - All team members create links with the same domain
  • Fewer mistakes - No risk of accidentally using the wrong domain
  • Faster workflow - Skip the domain selection step when creating links

Setting Your Default Domain

  1. Go to Domains in your workspace
  2. Find your verified custom domain in the list
  3. Click the three-dot menu next to it
  4. Select Set as default

The domain is now marked with a "Default" badge. All new links will use this domain.

Changing the Default Domain

You can change your default domain at any time:

  1. Go to Domains
  2. Click the three-dot menu on a different verified domain
  3. Select Set as default

Changing the default domain only affects new links. Existing links keep their original domain.

Using a Different Domain for Specific Links

Even with a default domain set, you can choose a different domain for individual links:

  1. Click Create Link
  2. Enter your destination URL
  3. Click on the domain dropdown (shows your default domain)
  4. Select a different verified domain from the list
  5. Complete the link creation

Default Domain and Team Members

The default domain applies to everyone in the workspace:

  • All team members see the same default domain when creating links
  • Only workspace owners can change the default domain
  • Team members can still select other domains per-link if needed

Removing the Default

To remove a default domain and return to manual selection:

  1. Go to Domains
  2. Click the three-dot menu on the domain marked as "Default"
  3. Select Remove default

With no default set, the link creation form will use your first verified domain.

Multiple Workspaces

If you have multiple workspaces, each can have its own default domain. This is useful for:

  • Different brands or products with separate domains
  • Client workspaces with client-specific domains
  • Regional teams using localized domains
